Started in February 1999 in a tire store in Merrifield VA by a group of pastors, ministry leaders and businessmen with a heart to minister to men in local churches, the Washington Area Coalition of Men's Ministries (WACMM) is a nonprofit, tax-exempt, non-denominational, all-volunteer evangelical training, speaking, consulting and event-sponsoring ministry.

Our purpose is to help pastors and men's leaders in the mid-Atlantic Region to minister to their men for the glory of God. WACMM has worked with over 700 churches in the region and around the nation -- large churches and small churches alike, regardless of denomination, whether ministry start-ups or restarts or new initiatives,
OUR STATEMENT OF BELIEF

We hold to the basic doctrines of historic, biblically faithful Christianity in accord with the National Association of Evangelicals, as found at www.nae.net.

1.  We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only, infallible, authoritative Word of God.

2.  We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3.  We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.

4.  We believe that the salvation of lost and sinful people is accomplished by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ alone, by the regenerating power of the Holy Spirit.

5.  We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life.

6.  We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, those who are saved to the resurrection of life and those who are lost to the resurrection of damnation.
OUR HISTORY

The Washington Area Coalition of Men’s Ministries began on a stormy night in February 1999 with the gathering of eight men in the storefront of Craven Tire & Auto in Merrifield, Virginia.

They talked and prayed together about what they sensed God was calling them to do following in the wake of the Promise Keepers movement which had reached a dramatic climax with over one million men gathering on the National Mall in October 1997.

The Team determined the focus and emphasis would be to assist local churches in their ministry to men. As one member repeatedly said, “let’s keep it on the ground", meaning local church-centered. The rest, as they say, is history. From the beginning, the ministry motto has been "Doing Together What We Cannot Do Alone.'

Almost seventeer years later WACMM remains an on-the-ground resource to local churches, their pastors and men's leaders to inform and mobilize the men of God for the glory of God.

WHAT WE BELIEVE ABOUT MANHOOD

WACMM is complementarian and a supporter of the Danvers Statement and the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (CBMC).

We believe that the Bible teaches that men are foundational. As go the men, so go the marriages, families, churches, communities and the culture.

God created men and women equal but not the same. He bestowed upon men unique roles and responsibilities to protect, to provide for and to lead their marriages, families and churches.

However, we live in the first generation in history that's confused about what it means to be a man. There's a fatherlessness crisis today because there's a crisis in manhood.

Building vibrant communities of men, calling them out and up to the high, noble masculinity only found in Christ Jesus, and discliping men in the gospel are the biggest challenges the church faces to day.

Jesus Christ is the ultimate Tender Warrior who rescued us from sin and death, redeemed our fallen masculinity, and set us truly free. Our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness!

WACMM is committed to boldly proclaim the gospel and uncompromisingly advocate biblical manhood.
